Black Bear and Company Name
Hunt Details

Location

From Seattle you will make the 1.5 hour commercial flight connection with Alaska Airlines into Ketchikan where we will pick you up and shuttle you to our seaplane base (or hotel if time demands ). Next we will depart Ketchikan Seaplane Harbor to Prince of Wales Island where you will enjoy the heaviest density of trophy black bears in the world!

Details of the hunt

Hunters who are serious about submitting record book black bear entries or putting up big Pope and Young scores on a bow and arrow stalk need to look no further. A typical outfitted hunt which can last up to five days involves passing up several of the Island’s average bears in search of a true trophy. The bear density on Prince of Wales Island is the highest per square mile anywhere in North America. It is also a biological fact that this Island’s bear population will have a skull size that is at least one-inch larger than any other population of Black Bear at the same age.

Prince of Wales Island is an outdoorsman's paradise… complimented by miles of coastline that are completely separate from any road system which might otherwise interfere.

The excitement will begin as Ryan shuttles you by floatplane to your remote outpost camp. After your drop-off, Ryan will give directions on using your
personal skiff and outboard, camp equipment, steelhead and cutthroat fishing techniques, and answer any other questions that you might have. Ryan McCue, registered Alaskan Guide #1063 will help to ensure that any specific concerns with each party are adressed. Our goal is to provide a safe, proffessional, and successful Black Bear hunt.

This Outfitted hunt will then
be between you, the bears,
and Alaska!

Regulations

Alaska state law prohibits flying and hunting on the same day, so all hunts will begin the day after you are shuttled to Prince of Wales Island by seaplane. Alaska state law mandates the retrieval of all edible meat on the Black Bear from January 1st to June 1st.. The hunter must salvage the skull and hide for sealing as well.
